The Cross-Examination is a public debate series built around a simple principle: consequential ideas deserve more than agreement among people who already share them.
Each case places a clearly framed question before people who genuinely disagree and asks them to defend their positions in the same room—fairly, rigorously and without insulation from challenge.
TCC has a point of view. The debate does not have a predetermined winner.
Participants must genuinely disagree.
The aim is not to manufacture controversy but to put meaningful intellectual differences into direct conversation.
Every Cross-Examination begins with a proposition narrow enough to debate seriously.
The question comes first. Personalities come second.
No ambushes. No straw men. No sermonising disguised as debate. No performative outrage.
Participants are expected to engage the strongest version of the opposing argument.
